Being a woman in the beauty business is an expected happenstance, but being a male in this industry can be a very empowering thing. In this day and age inclusion means so much and this new era of male-influenced content and brand support in the makeup industry is refreshing to see. I will not name names because there are too many to acknowledge, but I wanted to take this opportunity to speak to this shift in the industry. I believe that talent is gender neutral and that having an artist's perspective from the other sex gives a fresh and unique voice to the beauty business.

The Effects of More Men in the Makeup Industry

From male makeup influencers on Instagram to major brand supported male artists coming out with their own makeup lines, the playing field seems more balanced than it ever was before. This, in effect, also has a strong impact on the younger generation of men who are gender fluid and experimenting with their own ideas of beauty. These male role models also encourage society to be more open-minded when it comes to what 'beauty' means or what 'gender identity' means. Being open-minded – whatever your background or beliefs are in the beauty business – is essential. Beauty crosses boundaries in fashion and in all types of artistic expression. I am grateful to be working in an industry that supports individuality, gender fluidity, and everyone's unique way of expressing themselves through this art form! GladGirl even dedicates the entire month of March to empower men to continue lashing on! Male makeup artists have always been a part of the creative landscape and now men are at the forefront of makeup more than ever before, adding new dimensions to the industry as a whole. YASSSSS!!!
