4 CommentsOver my 15 years of eyelash extension experience, one of the most heartbreaking moments is receiving clients with damaged lashes. Whether it's because of bad application, poor products, or negligent home care, some eyelashes can really suffer. People with damaged lashes come to me looking for a savior to tell them they don't have to take a break from putting on lashes in order to make a recovery. The truth is, eyelash extensions can be very safe – I have clients that have never needed breaks from extensions. However, bad products and unqualified application techniques can cost anyone their lash health.Blepharitisis just one of the serious developments from bad practices. Eeeeek! To avoid a potential lash crisis, keep the bar high and work with only the best-educated artists. If you ever get in a position where you need to manage a lash crisis, we have some tips you can follow below!
How to Manage an Eyelash Nightmare
There are two things you can do to manage a lash crisis. Both options are outlined below.
1. Remove and Renew Eyelashes
This requires no serious medical intrusion or loss of hair. All you have to do is remove the extensions, clean the lashes, and then rock on with the newly improved lashes!
2. Remove and Take an Eyelash Break
Eyelash extensions will come out looking better if the lashes have time to heal. Don't worry, time will fly by! Book a follow-up appointment to reassess the lash progress. Now that the eyelashes are healthy, we want to know ways we can keep them at their prime. We go into this in our next section on lash maintenance.
How to Keep Lashes Healthy
Eyelashes can be taken care of at home, too! Here is an at-home prescription for lash lovers that want to maintain lash health even after extensions are put in.
1. Replenish Hair With Nutrients
Use KeraCell Eyelash & Brow Boosting Serum to keep eyelashes happy and healthy even after work has been done on them. Make sure to apply liberally before bed. It can also be used while lashes are on!
It is important to use the right products when taking care of lashes. The Glad Lash After Care Kit can really make a difference for those looking to maintain long, lushes, and irresistible lashes.
Product education should be included in each visit when lashing – a home-care plan goes a really long way for anyone putting on lashes. In my professional practice, I supply shampoo and brushes at the end that are included in the service cost. I share my home care product must-haves below!
Eyelash Home Care Must-Haves:
Eyelash Cleansing Brush- This brush is so silky soft you’ll want a second or third for other tasks like eyeshadow and concealer application.
Eyelash Shampoo + Conditioner - This set of cleansers is a specially formulated, botanically infused oil-free cleanser designed to clean and condition eyelashes. A must-have for eyelash maintenance.
RUBBER Wands - Did you know traditional mascara wands can tear at lashes? Make the switch and go with silicone with these rubber wands!
Feel free to pop in questions or comments below about lash health and lash damage. Wishing everyone happy and healthy lashes. ;)

A smooth, flawless wax can leave your skin looking and feeling incredible, but proper aftercare is essential to maintain those results and keep your skin healthy. Freshly waxed skin is more sensitive and needs extra attention to avoid irritation, redness, or ingrown hairs.
