Salon Confessions

Lash Lovers, I have a confession to make... After a whole decade and more of "vavavoom-ing" the eyelashes of others, I had never actually sat to receive a full set of eyelash extensions for myself. Up until last week. It’s true! Instead, I’d gotten into the bad habit of wearing knot-free flare lashes on the daily. Over the last year of gluing on flares, my naturally thick and long lashes began to drastically thin. It was long overdue for me to practice what I preach and switch to lash extensions! The most valuable thing I took away from my first lash appointment as a client is newfound empathy and understanding for what our clients are going through. If you haven’t already experienced eyelash extensions for yourself I highly recommend giving them a go.

Revelations From the Chair

There were two things that came up for me during my lash appointment. Firstly, the lash artist I went to was not aware that I did lashes for a living. As a first timer, I was not offered any knowledge on after care. Taking the time to provide a lash brush, and a little bit of coaching on lash care, will set your clients up for success. Secondly, I did something that is actually my biggest pet peeve as an artist... I took a phone call. Not only did I take a call, I stayed on the call for over 20 minutes. Although she did a beautiful job, one of my eyes did get less attention. Where sometimes I can be soft spoken, I feel more inclined to ask my own clients to make their lash appointment a phone free zone. My main beauty advice I will repeat to you is: all you need is eyelash extensions, tinted brows, and lip moisture. And it turns out I'm right... I am converted for life! And I even remembered to take a before and after shot for you! :-)
