Here's your Make It Up tip of the week! I was looking into hot makeup tips through the decades and want to share with you some interesting facts and a makeup tip to achieve the ‘look of the decade'! Sound fun? Yeah, I thought so!!! This week, the Roaring 20’s!
Following WW1, the 1920's ushered in the Jazz Age and an era where makeup definitely became more of a standard rather than only wearing it if you were a thespian of perhaps a lady of the night. Sounds so tawdry, doesn't it?! Wow, times have changed.
Back in the day, ladies used to make Kohl eyeliner by mixing goose fat or petroleum jelly with soot or coal to create the eyeliner "LOOK" that was so indicative of the time. Ladies LOVED creating smokey and bold eye makeup looks using their homemade liner. And bonus, they also used this trick for their eyebrows. Remember, eyebrows used to be very thin so they were painted on with the Kohl for maximum impact.
How To Get That 1920’s Makeup Look
Since goose fat or soot are no longer home staples, here is much easier way to achieve a 1920's vibe.
First, take a Black Kohl Eyeliner and smudge it on your top and bottom lash lines, add to your upper and lower water (the inner eye area, underneath the lash lines) lines.
If you don't have a KOHL Liner...then here's a hack for you; Use a lighter and light the end of the eyeliner for a couple of seconds....allow it cool, tap on the back of your hand just to be sure before application and then apply a dark grey eye-shadow to your eyelid and blend upwards.
You will then darken your eyebrows for that extra punch of drama.
For those with Eyelash Extensions, you can use, the Glad Lash, Lash ‘Em Liners to achieve this look.
Using a cream blush on the apples of your cheeks, give yourself some extreme rosy cheeks.
Create a cupid's bow lipstick look with a bold lip color.
Oh, and lastly, LASHES OF COURSE! I would suggest a pair of Glad Lash strip lashes in Strip Bare.
Hair...accent your hair with a fun rhinestone or feather hair piece!
Next stop, speakeasy!! #MoonshineandMakeup #NextStop1940s

A smooth, flawless wax can leave your skin looking and feeling incredible, but proper aftercare is essential to maintain those results and keep your skin healthy. Freshly waxed skin is more sensitive and needs extra attention to avoid irritation, redness, or ingrown hairs.
