Have you felt the need to disconnect from the matrix? While a total unplug may be a bit radical, especially if you have an online business, I recommend trying out some of the tips that I am about to share. Give and take what resonates with you, even small doses of digital-moderation can be effective!
Delete Apps From Your Phone
With apps gone from easy access, you will be more likely to make a conscious choice to log on. Instead of logging on out of habit, or as a way to procrastinate, you will have to purposefully log into the platform through your web browser or re-download the app. I went so far as to take emails off of my phone - such a sweet relief!
Ditch The Photo Filter
Snapchat dysmorphia is real. According to the board of plastic surgery, photo filters are drastically increasing business. I am no stranger to the pursuit of exterior improvement, but quitting filters for just two weeks changed my self-perception and esteem. Don't get caught in the endless game of fixing so-called 'flaws'. Healthy skin, lashes, brows, and a radiating inner validation makes for the brightest beauty.
Be Present
Are you so immersed in synthetic intimacy that you find yourself craving something more real? Most of our hearts are yearning for deep, face-to-face connections, which is why it is especially beneficial to prioritize technology-free time. When attending gatherings, I even went as far as to leave my phone in the car. As a result, I was able to experience organic connections that I may have missed if I had been busy taking photos or watching stories.
Next time you find yourself about to open your phone and look for updates, stop yourself. Are you acting out of habit or boredom? What is something that you could engage with other than your screen? Decide to take time to unplug so that you can be present with your surroundings. If you want to learn more about how you can invest in your well being and learn how to be fully present, check out this post. Enjoy the moments that life has given you!
