How ot handle sick clients

My community has been hit pretty hard with the cold and flu this year, and we all know that this can have a real impact on you and your business. Illness is a part of life, of course. But, do you know how to deal with sick clients correctly, and confidently? Personally, I have had several clients come in for their lash appointments burning up with fever. I write this for the benefit of fellow lash professionals, and to all the clients who also might be reading. We put our hands on you and can feel the heat radiating from those foreheads! And from our end, artists, please remember that no client wants an ill professional, particularly one who is working in such close proximity. I know we always want to do our best, but sometimes it’s best to cancel and reschedule.

Be Loud and Clear

Importantly, let me just say to every lash artist out there, put the message out to your clients to “stay home” when they aren’t feeling well. That client who just can’t miss their appointment just put you, your coworkers, and every other client you see in jeopardy. Unfortunately, this is truly disrespectful to you and your business. I just experienced this first hand. I had a very nice client who I personally really like, drop her flu bomb on me. She came in for her lash appointment, never said a word about being under the weather. She was clearing her throat and needed a cough drop before laying down. Boom!! I should have stopped right then too late, she already dropped the flu bomb in my treatment room. This flu has tentacles that can spread way beyond just them and their family. After completing her treatment, I disinfected my room, salon and even the door knobs. Too late, I was infected. It spread from her to me to my husband and several coworkers. This is no joke, there are people who have compromised immune systems who cannot tolerate even a common cold. Furthermore, those germs can make their way to other clients.

There is No Service that Cannot Wait

This is not open heart surgery, it is lashes after all. I would like to ask each and every lash, brow or salon professional to be firm with your clients to cancel if they are sick, and reassure that rescheduling in this circumstance is not a problem. I have had to miss a whole week of work. Lost income, rescheduling, text messages, emails, upset clients... Not to mention the nuisance of being flat on my back - fevered, coughing, and totally miserable. I know this article is not fun and fluffy, but it’s important! For the overall health of your business, put a policy in place and remember to disinfect and sanitize. Be well my Lash Beauties.

A smooth, flawless wax can leave your skin looking and feeling incredible, but proper aftercare is essential to maintain those results and keep your skin healthy. Freshly waxed skin is more sensitive and needs extra attention to avoid irritation, redness, or ingrown hairs.
