1. Temperature

Choose a lash glue that will perform in the conditions you are working in. If your room runs warmer, you may need a glue that stands up to a warmer temperature. Same if you are in a cooler environment. Most lash glue will work well with indoor temperatures between 72-76 degrees F. If your room is cooler than 72, your dry time can be effected. The same principle applies if the room is too warm. Your glue can have issues with the time it takes to dry. So, check with the manufacturer and choose the glue that is suited for your environment.

2. Humidity

Humidity is the next important factor in your choice of glue. Most glue performance is best with humidity levels between 40-60%. Higher humidity can make the glue stringy and hard to work with. Too little humidity and the glue will not grip the natural lash. Adding a dehumidifier in the summer and a humidifier in the dryer months can be a great help in stabilizing your work environment. Keeping the room at a stable temperature and humidity levels will make working with your glue easier and more consistent.

3. Storage

Storing your adhesive is very important. Always store your it in an upright position. We do not want to leave any glue in the tip or on the outside of the tip. Always remove any residual glue from the tip right away. Keep your glue in a cool dry area away from any excess heat or moisture. Always keep your glue tightly capped after each use. Leaving the cap off can allow air to get in the bottle and cause the glue to be less potent over time.

4. Replace

When to replace your glue is also right up there with temperature and humidity in importance. I have found that my “sweet spot” is 5 weeks. After 5 weeks my glue starts to lose its grip. Any longer, I start to see a dip in retention. So make sure to find your “sweet spot” and always have a fresh glue ready to go.

5. Shake

Before you start your day, remember to give your glue a good shake. We want to mix up the ingredients and discard the first drop after shaking. I shake my glue for 60 seconds if it has been sitting over night and then for another 15-20 seconds between lashing.
