Wednesday Wink – 5 Secrets to Sublime Summer Lash Care

Summer-Lashes

Summer gives us a lot of challenges with our beauty routine. The heat, humidity, sunshine, salt water, and chlorine that make summer so great can actually negatively affect your eyelash extensions. In this post, let’s break down how to deal with these issues and still maintain full fluffy lashes!

1. Avoid Sauna-Like Temperatures

Heat can have a major impact on your lashes, makeup, and skincare routine. Extreme heat can cause your lashes to go straight - getting inside a hot car, for instance, can take the curl of your lash away. So be mindful of this if you live in an area where it gets very hot. Grilling and barbecuing can also cause damage, such as singed edges. So we recommend you try to avoid extreme heat whenever you can.

2. Fight Humidity with Clean Lashes

Humidity not only affects the application process, but it can also cause excess sweat and oils. If the humidity in the application process isn’t compatible with the glue, you will have trouble with retention. As a lash wearer, you will need to keep your lashes clean. Sweat and oil can build up between the lashes and wreak havoc on the retention of your lashes so it is important to keep them clean. Glad Lash's Wash and Wink works perfectly to keep lash retention alive in the summer.

3. Shorten Strands for Sunglass Wear

Sunshine? How does that impact your lashes? First of all, those of you who only wear sunglasses in the summer may find your lashes are too long and rub on your sunglasses. Not only is it annoying, but it can also cause irritation of the hair follicle. You may need to have your lash length reduced for the summer months if you are a sunglasses wearer.

4. Don't Stay Salty

Ocean water obviously has a large salt content, which can be damaging to your lashes. After swimming in the ocean, you should ALWAYS rinse off your lashes in tap water. The salt in the water acts like sweat without the oil and can affect the retention of the glue. If you are lucky enough to get to the ocean, enjoy! Just make sure to rinse those lashes.

5. Rinse off Chlorine

Pool water can be just as damaging as ocean water. There is chlorine in pool water, which can dry out your skin and hair very quickly. The impact it can have on your lashes can be reduced if you use swim goggles or reduce the amount of pool water on your face. Again, remember to rinse off your lashes after exposure to the water. I hope these summer hacks help you keep your lashes in check! Enjoy your summer and remember to keep your eyelashes clean!

A smooth, flawless wax can leave your skin looking and feeling incredible, but proper aftercare is essential to maintain those results and keep your skin healthy. Freshly waxed skin is more sensitive and needs extra attention to avoid irritation, redness, or ingrown hairs.
