We are almost at the end of 2017, and oh what a year it's been!! Since I live in the land of beauty (yes, there is such a place... in my head!), I thought it would be delightful for us to learn about some organizations that help us with giving back in beauty. In the land of beauty, that's how we do...

1. Lipstick Angels

The name is everything! This organization's mission is to give beauty support services to cancer patients, and in turn hopefully help them feel stronger and more hopeful. Their core values are Courage, Respect, Dignity, Compassion and Quality. Cancer patients can feel stripped away of these things. With the help of makeup artists, estheticians, and non-profit personnel, Lipstick Angels provide revitalizing services to help where needed on the day. Natural and chemical free beauty products are used at all times. This service is recognized and used at Cedars-Sinai medical center, the Todd Cancer Institute, City of Hope, and the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell medical center. It's an incredible opportunity to give back with beauty!

2. Wands for Wildlife

This organization is not only for the recycler in you, but also for animal lovers. Old mascara wands? Don't throw them away! They can be used to remove fly eggs and larvae from the fur of wild animals. YES, this is an easy task for beauty professionals, like me, that have a tendency to throw away used wands. Please make sure you wash your wands in soapy water before sending. You can have a 'WANDraiser' too!! Fill out the Wands for Wildlife form and start posting to P.O. Box 1211, Skyland, NC 28776.

3. Renée Rouleau

Renée is a trusted skin care expert and esthetician, and has over 25 years of experience in the industry. Renée Rouleau has a program to donate unused or gently used skincare and beauty products to local women's shelters. Please remember to sterilize the products before sending. Many places won't accept gently used items, so check first.

4. Random Acts of Lipstick

If you are beauty brand, give back here with the same concept above except the products have to be unused.

5. Locks of Love

This brilliant organisation accepts your hair donations to make hairpieces for cancer patients. You must meet the guidelines first, so make sure to read through them carefully on the Locks of Love website.

6. GladGirl

Last but not least, GladGirl gives you the opportunity to go vegan and cruelty free with your beauty products everyday, ensuring that animals remain unharmed. GladGirl also looks forward to giving back its support each October to the Susan G. Komen foundation for breast cancer research and support. Ahem... GladGirl - thank you very much!

These are all incredible organizations that make the 'give' feel like a 'win' every time. Thank you to the beautiful people who run them, and to those who volunteer to give back in the land of beauty!
