We all seem to be attached to our phones these days... I know I am. From managing social media, to posting fun makeup pics for my business, it's a 'business' in and of itself to keep up with the latest and greatest in APP-ology! I want to share a couple of cool apps I have recently discovered that can help us beauty seekers out on our path to perfection. Enjoy!
1. Beauty Tips for IOS Peeps
This simple and pure app gives you quick and easy tips regarding your beauty regime. From skincare, to eye makeup, to nails, these useful nuggets will help you in your day-to-day routines. They may just improve your process too, or give you some really great topics of conversation at your next 'girlie hang' session.
You can "favorite" and "share" a tip of your liking as well! An example of one of the skin care tips is to: "Use a dampened Q-tip to remove any mascara that has gotten onto your eyelids". See, quick and easy! Sometimes, these are just great reminders of what we can do.
2. bareMinerals MADE-2-FIT Foundation Makeup Match
If you have ever had trouble finding your right shade of base, or if your skin color has changed a bit because of summer, or you simply don't have the time to get to a beauty store, then this is the app for you! This app uses MATCHCo technology - it scans your skin to create your own custom color blend of foundation. It's magic! Your custom bottle with your name on it can be ready and shipped in one day! It sits at a $49 purchase price, but for the the ease and exactness of it - it's totally worth it.
Think Dirty is for IOS, and is in beta with Android. A good friend of mine introduced this app to me a few days ago. It is for the conscientious consumer! It allows you to scan a barcode on an item to find out if it's toxic or not. It was really interesting to play around with... I scanned a few items, and they did not have them in their database to cross reference, but asked me to submit them with a picture, and they would get back to me with the information at hand. User generated content is a great way to add items, and get a breakdown for yourself and others.
Once an item is scanned into the system, it gives you an overall rating of how healthy it is, with '3-0' being the highest score, and '10-8' being the lowest. It lists the ingredients, and shows you how 'dirty' each one is, then gives you suggestions for similar products in the same category that have a clean '0' - which means they have no harmful ingredients or potential for negative impact. This is a very useful and great app for us do-gooders! To make your own non-toxic beauty products, check out these DIY recipes I shared in a recent article.
4. Last, But Not Least - Glam Scout!
Glam Scout is an interesting idea, and I love it. However, I do think it still needs some more cultivating. Essentially, you can upload a beauty look that you find in a magazine - or anywhere for that matter - and the app will match the makeup products to ones in their database, which represents over 80 brands. Then you can buy the products, if you wish. They give you high-end, and less expensive options, so you don't have to break the bank to try out a product.
The app also has makeup looks from celebrities already installed, to inspire you. You may also try the makeup look on with a selfie, but this is the part I believe needs improvement. I was, however, impressed with the aspect of giving you 'the look', if desired. You can also play with the intensity of color if you like a lipstick shade, and want to see it lighter or darker. I love the option to buy the products, and the concept as a whole is great. I wish them luck.
I love apps that help us with our beauty needs, and also make us smarter consumers! Let us know what you think of these, and if you would keep them in your library. If you have any other NEW and awesome apps to try out, please let me know about them in the comments section below, as I'm always looking for even MORE distractions... I won't 'app-ologize' for it ;) Ha, Ha, I couldn't resist!

A smooth, flawless wax can leave your skin looking and feeling incredible, but proper aftercare is essential to maintain those results and keep your skin healthy. Freshly waxed skin is more sensitive and needs extra attention to avoid irritation, redness, or ingrown hairs.
