2021 Updated Smokey Eye Makeup Look

A great way to update your look is to change up the way you do your eyeshadow. I have been using this technique for a modern smokey eye on myself and clients with beautiful results. It really opens up the eyes making them look larger and more awake. It is also more versatile and customizable than a traditional smokey eye.
  1. Start off by priming your eye with either concealer or an eye primer.
  2. Then apply a neutral shadow all over the eye to set it in place and make it easier to blend the colors together. Try using a light blush like Palm Springs Party for fair to light skin tones or New York Summer for medium to deeper skin tones. If you use the same color blush on the eyes and cheeks it can really pull the look together.
  3. After you’ve blended in your base color, start to deepen up the crease with a mustard color similar to Palm Springs Party. I start to diffuse the color in the crease focusing on the outer third of the eye. You can stop here and have a super natural smokey eye or add in Morocco Mood, a deep warm brown shadow.
  4. If you are going to add in the deeper brown make sure to focus it on the outer third really focusing on building up the color, you can also put the color on the lower lash line to bring a nice smoke to the look.
One of the most important aspects of this look is to bring brightness to the inner corner. You can use a bright white, cream matte or for more pop try Monaco Mood. Try packing the color onto the lower lash line where the tear duct is and it will brighten up the eyes immediately. All of the above mentioned colors can be found in GladGirl's Customizable Palette.

PRO TIP

Add light colors to the inner corner to immediately brighten your eyes.
Once you’ve blended in your shadows you can add a liner, glitter, or even a pop of color to the lower lash line. This look is really easy to personalize once you get it down. If you want to add even more drama to the eyes add in a black liner in the water line. I used the GladGirl Liquid Liner in Espresso to add a bit more drama. I was really impressed with how creamy and smooth it applied. Whats your favorite style of smokey eye and will you give this type of look a try?

A smooth, flawless wax can leave your skin looking and feeling incredible, but proper aftercare is essential to maintain those results and keep your skin healthy. Freshly waxed skin is more sensitive and needs extra attention to avoid irritation, redness, or ingrown hairs.
