It's June everyone! With summer basically here, many of you may be looking in the mirror and thinking that it is about time for a tan. This blog post is all about sunless tanning and what products win the 'bronzed' medal! I think we can agree that being in the sun is harmful, especially if we don't have the proper sunscreen on and don't remember to reapply it about every 45 minutes. Sunless tanning is a great option for those of us who want an even bronzed look throughout the summer months and beyond without putting ourselves underneath the sun's rays.
Product Suggestions
My first suggestion to you is St. Tropez Self Tanning Mousse. It may be just a bit pricey at $42 a can but it's worth it. It doesn't carry an awful smell, dries so naturally and doesn't give an orange afterglow! It lasts for about a week.
St, Tropez Self Tan Classic Bronzing Mousse has 100% natural tanning actives and a vegan friendly formula.
Banana Boat has a great option that you can buy at your neighborhood drugstore. It's their Self Tanning Sunless Lotion. It gives you a golden tan without an orange tint. It lasts a couple days but I would suggest applying regular body lotion everyday to keep your skin hydrated and help the tan last a bit longer. For an intense tan, try Ultra Dark Sunless Tanning Lotion. The cherry scent leaves you wanting more and when applied at bedtime, you wake up at least 3 shades darker! The color doesn't transfer onto clothes or sheets which is great. There is also minimal streaks and fading. A great product choice for those who go 'hard' when it comes to their sunless tanning regime!
For the face I would suggest something different, since the skin is more delicate. My fave product is by a company called Coola. They offer a matte tinted sunscreen which I have personally tried and liked, and now they have what is called Organic Sunless Tan Anti-Aging Face Serum. This acts as a serum with anti-aging ingredients while also giving your face bronzed life! This can be used alone or mixed with your moisturizer.
Tanning Tips!
Now that we have shared some amazing products, here are sunless tanning tips to ensure that you get the most out of your purchase:
If you are going to self tan, it is best if you exfoliate your skin first. This will ensure that your application is smooth and streak-free. This applies to your body and face!
Make sure that you shave and get a pedicure before you apply sunless tanner; waiting to do so after you apply the product will cause the tan to fade quickly!
If you are not sure what color you should use, apply a swatch of the product to your skin to test it out and make sure that you like the progression of color.
Keep your skin moisturized during the self-tanning process.
Let out your bronzed goddess this summer!
