I have dabbled with Feng Shui by working on creating good chi or energy in certain parts of my house, but I got to thinking... Can Feng Shui be applied to beauty? Is there a principle here that can help us to appear at our best AND attract positive chi energy? Here's what I learned...
What is Feng Shui?
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, it means:
A Chinese system for positioning a building and the objects within a building in a way that is thought to agree with spiritual forces and to bring health and happiness.
What's Your Feng Shui Kua Number?
Just the idea of applying makeup is centered around the direction you choose to do it in, and what energy you wish to draw in. In order to attract personal growth, wealth, health or love you first need to find out what your Kua number is (it's super easy) then see where your number lies in the chart for all four of these elements, here.
For example, my Kua number is 6. According to the charts, to attract what I want, I must apply my makeup facing in these directions:
Personal Growth: North-west
Wealth: West
Health: North-east
Love: South-west
I am doing my makeup in almost a south-westerly direction, but if I'm being completely honest with myself, it's mostly south... According to the chart this is unlucky. It looks like I will be starting a bathroom remodel today!
Keeping your beauty spaces clear and clutter-free will also bring in better energy. For some great makeup storage hacks, check out my article on the topic.
Consulting the Masters
The Feng Shui masters say that your lips need to be in proportion to your other features. Don't get too crazy making them look fuller than they need to be, and keep the lip liners blending with your lip colors.
Your eyebrows are said to be the defender of the Feng Shui ideals. They guard you from being hurt emotionally and physically. With that being said, au natural is the way to go. I'm personally not too sure about this one! But, if you have to trim or fill in, do as you do, but thicker is most promising.
In regards to eyeliner and mascara, less in more. Don't weigh down your eyes with heavy black liners or mascaras, but keep everything more natural and this will attract more positive chi from others. I'm hearing a straight up advertisement for eyelash extensions in this one! No mascara needed, and usually women wear less eye makeup in general when they have beautiful extensions, right?! Win! Oops... I mean, good Chi for the win!
Your cheeks are considered good fortune hot spots. Keep those cheeks dewy and glowy.
This is such a fascinating area to research. Let us know whether your beauty routine feng shui is on point, or if it's Chi challenged!
