Summer is here! In honor of the change of the season, I’m going to interrupt the, “Makeup It Up by Decades” posting with some nuggets on how to withstand the HEAT of Summer!!
As a makeup artist, I always want to give tips and tricks that will help the, makeup life, seem not so complicated...and for SUMMER, less is more! YAY!!
First and FOREMOST, hydrate like you have never hydrated! Water is so good for your body and for your FACE! Stay away from salty foods that will bloat you and cause allover water retention! Easy enough right? I’ll keep having to remind myself of this when I’m looking straight into a bowl of chips and guac today. Happy July 4th! ;)
You probably know where I am going next...SUNSCREEN! I beg of you all, protect your skin!!! Whether it's from a broad spectrum sunscreen that shields you from UVA and UVB light (UVA rays can prematurely age your skin and UVB rays can burn your skin) or sunscreen that is in a BB cream or CC cream or Foundation...go for it! Your skin and dermatologist will thank you.
Next, these are my favorite alternatives for heavier foundations. As mentioned earlier...CC Creams and BB Creams are great options in the summer months when heat and the elements will be major factors. CC creams are meant to be Color Correctors that address issues like redness or sallowness usually with light diffusion and a BB cream is more like a lighter foundation with some skin care benefits. The CC cream from “It Cosmetics”, I can personally vouch for. It's hydrating, provides awesome sun protection, excellent coverage and is long-lasting. With these products, your skin will be able to breath in the face of any summer sizzle.
Another fun makeup trick....if you happen to leave your eyeliner or lipstick in the car or your purse and they get super hot and melt-y, don't fret, just gently put them into the freezer and they can be good as new. Maybe not as tidy as they once were but definitely wearable- plus, you just saved yourself some money and time!! Also, use waterproof products whenever possible, be worry free around sweat and water!
Lastly, have fun! Get bronzy with your bronzers, dewy with your highlighters and sexy with your tan lines!! Sizzle with the heat, not in it!
